Projects

Throughout my years, I have done numerous projects for modules ranging from Language and Literacy where I applied my knowledge of children's language and literacy development, to Professional Communication where I had to write proposals, budgets and design publicity materials .

Projects: Text

1.

My project for Language and Literacy was to plan a language experience and storytelling. I made props and resources as seen in the pictures below and used them for the storytelling as well as incorporated an action rhyme of my own creation. I made a zoo inspired resource and animals puppets to suit the zoo theme of the book I chose using recycled materials. I attained a 'B' grade for the overall assignment which also included taking a 5-8 minute video of how I would facilitate the language experience while someone acted as the child.

A project for my Discovery of the World module involved picking a location and planning an activity for a class of children based on a topic. The topic my group chose was Road Safety and we picked Road Safety Park for our on-site activity. We planned an 'amazing race' for the children incorporating what Road Safety Park has to offer. In addition to that, we had to plan individual post-activities. I attained a B+ for the individual overall grade.

I did a group project for my Professional Communications module where we had to make a proposal pitch to a group who promotes volunteering in youths. It was a very new world of setting budgets and using Gantt Charts but this was when I refined my skills in Excel and learned how to professionally present a budget and write proposals to the organization we were pitching to. I attained a B+ overall grade for this assignment. Below is the full pdf pf the proposal we did.

For my Early Numeracy module, my group and I had to create a board game that is aimed at teaching ‘More Than’ and ‘Less Than’ and rote counting for children aged 5 to 6 years old. We developed a board game similar to snakes and ladders but with extra tools such as a large dice with ‘More Than’ and ‘Less Than’ written on it and 3 levels of difficulty for the numbers they would have to compare. The game also provides little apples as a guide should the children need visual and physical aid to count and compare larger numbers. This game engages children through the colorful visuals and games tools while also ensuring the games’ aims are met and that it caters to the different ability levels. My group received an A overall for this project.
